At Cap de Nice, facing the sea, this apartment is a place where all the softness of the South is revealed by blending noble, natural materials such as raffia, palm wood and Burgundy stone with carefully selected, exceptional furnishings. The light-filled apartment features Burgundy stone throughout the floor.
A vast living/dining room is marked by the presence of palm wood, recalling the French decorative arts of the first half of the 20th century, to which the owners are very attached. The Italian-style bathroom is in Cipollino marble, recalling the origins of the city of Nice. This rare marble was used by the Romans for their most beautiful temples. The 18th century Carrara marble basin and 17th century Venetian mirror above it enhance this Italian spirit. Two full-height pivot doors concealed in the kitchen’s woodwork lead to the bedrooms, dressed in raffia, recalling the dolce vita of the Côte d’Azur in the fifties.
The choice of furniture is a blend of early 20th century decorative arts, with touches of relics from the great centuries: mermaid sconces by George Jouve, armchairs by Charlotte Perriand, seats by Carlo Bugatti…
