The Cabin

Assinie, Côte d’Ivoire

Located in Assinie, a strip of land between sea and lagoon on the Ivorian coast, this shed, feet in the water, pays tribute to the Ivorian style. The perspective between the bedroom and the bathroom is underlined by the use of the same stone floor and a sliding opening. On either side of this door, there are two custom-made cupboards in iroko, local wood, as well as two wooded niches in which sit large old wooden hornbills, this mythical bird of the Senoufo ethnic group widespread in Côte d’Ivoire. The wooden bed, the wrought iron chairs and the handles are designed and signed by Ebur. In the bathroom, the choice of materials was also made with a desire for simplicity with the use of white earthenware tiles, underlined by mirrors in orange lacquered wood and rope also made to measure for this project.
