The Vagues folding screen is inspired by the traditional lacquered wood screens of Asian art, which was often reinterpreted during the French Art Deco movement. The ripples and irregularity of the light reflected on its sides are reminiscent of the sun’s reflection on a stormy sea. The contrast in color between the faces and edges creates a play of perspective and adds subtle, colorful detail. The Vagues folding screen is made in Portugal in an artisanal woodworking workshop.
